Hello! Hope your day is moving along smoothly. I realized the other day that I have discovered my food identity – it is Paleoish. I saw the term online and laughed because it describes how I eat pretty consistently. Paleo sometimes, but not quite really. I love grain free baked goods, but I do eat bread. I do not eat many beans, but I like hummus. Oatmeal is my jam for breakfast at least a few mornings a week. I prefer almond butter to peanut butter, and the list goes on. Paleoish is where it is at for me these days.
Scott has been working very diligently on his master’s thesis which is due shortly. Of course he is up against a tight deadline and often has to grab food on the go and skip some workouts. Such is life, right? He mentioned the other night he might try a Paleo Cleanse when his project is finished. I jumped right in and indicated that I could be supportive and join in on that cleanse. The moment I said it all I could think about was a big bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. Of course, right? Oatmeal is hardly a bad food, but it would certainly be off limits for a Paleo Cleanse.
Honestly, I always feel you should take what works from any concept and apply it to how it works in your life and for your body. We are all unique and the same foods and quantities are just not right for everyone. Learning what works for you can be a journey in and of itself.

What I Ate Tuesday Wednesday
I was not really hungry when I woke up so I had some coffee and waited until about 7:30 to eat. The food cleanse discussion prompted me to prepare some oats the night before. I enjoyed one of my go-to recipes for overnight oats.This creation is delicious and is packed with protein but dairy free. The recipe is from the lovey Brittany over at Eating Bird Food. I made a variation on her healthy recipe and added some almond butter as a topping. The shadows on this pic are crazy – I did my best to edit, but the lighting in our apartment was acting up on me.
The oatmeal took me a while to eat, but I found I was hungry for a snack around 11AM. I decided to have a Greek yogurt with Choffy. Choffy is a product that Scott and I bought back in the Spring when we went to the Paleo FX conference. It is meant to be brewed as a beverage (part chocolate and part coffee) but I really like it sprinkled on yogurt. I also added MCT oil (for fat) and Stevia (for sweetness). Choffy is Paleo if you go out on a limb. Yogurt and dairy products are not.
Lunch was inspired by an egg creation Scott saw recently. It included pastured bacon we picked up at the farmers market as well as organic tomatoes and spices. I added the asparagus on the side for something green.
It also kept me full for hours. All that protein! I had a post-meal cup of coffee and was on the computer most of the afternoon.
Before I headed out to run a quick errand I grabbed a Kind Bar as a snack.
I stick to the Nuts and Spice line since they are much lower in sugar than the others.
Dinner was one of my favorites and included a Japanese sweet potato, sautéed spinach and grass fed steak. There was some Kerrygold butter in there too. I had a chilled La Croix in the Coconut Flavor which I have been crushing on pretty consistently.
After cleaning up, I finished up the day with some dark chocolate and a cup of my favorite tea from Trader Joe’s. They need to offer Candy Cane Green Tea all year round.
All in all, it was a fairly average day of eats for me. I ended up not working out since I felt a little under the weather. If I had there would have been a protein shake in there somewhere too. A Paleoish one of course.
