A healthy protein shake that combines the amazing flavors of strawberry and banana. Perfect for a meal on the go or to refuel after a workout. Refreshing, sweet and packed with nutrients! Blended and ready to go in less than 5 minutes. Perfection!
True story. After recipe testing in my kitchen yesterday afternoon I decided I needed a new spot to take a quality photo. Lately, I have been using our small patio/deck area to create a mock table setting. The light when you are outside is exponentially better for taking pictures. Except, I did not want it to get to repetitive since I figure there are only so many ways to dress up a tiny table differently! I have added silverware and towels, but now I felt I needed more!
Our kitchen, while very nice, is a bit on the dark side. I like to show off my finished food products outside when I can. So I grabbed the Strawberry Banana Protein Shake, Mason jar and all, and headed out in search of a perfect little photography spot!
I played it cool and figured if I ran into anyone I could just be an apartment dweller who had just worked out. How would they know I was not simply savoring my post-workout treat? This cover story made total sense to me! As I shared in my Tuesday post – good photos are really important!
Ironically I used to be super scared of protein shakes. Why you might ask? Well, I thought they would be the road to weight gain after reading tons of articles online about their hidden sugar, fats and high calories. I started to experiment with making them myself and I can rest assure you that is not the case. You do have to choose the ingredients wisely and keep you proportions in mind. Show restraint and do not add 10 bananas. If you keep your recipe moderate in extras you should be absolutely fine!
Protein shakes are one of my favorite ways to get something quick and tasty after I have worked out. I also like them when I am on the go or only have 5 minutes for a meal. The blender to my rescue every time! Strawberry and banana is one rocking combination of flavors in my opinion.
You can use fresh fruit in a protein shake, however, I always prefer frozen since it gives it a frothier and thicker texture. There is something about any kind of frozen concoction that makes me embrace the summer more. I added protein powder to mine, but you could skip that if it does not please you.
Right now, I am rotating between Sun Warrior Classic Protein and Hemp Pro 70 which are both plant based protein powders.
Now that you have visions of me running around with my protein shake you fully deserve the recipe for sticking around.
Have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy something blended, and not stirred. Cheers!
