Low carb and no carb diets make me want to scream. Like out loud. I know that may sound a little harsh, but I get so frustrated when I see this concept promoted all over the place. When people think the answer is to cut ALL the carbs out of their diet I see a pitfall coming in the future. Yes, you’ll lose weight, but eventually you will add them back into your diet. You will gain that weight right back. Eliminating foods as an approach to lose weight is usually a mistake. Deprivation is typically a one way ticket to binge eating. What could have been one slice of bread turns into an entire bread basket. With an extra serving of carbs on the side. Your body needs carbs and you should consistently be including healthy choices in your diet.
Easy Food Swaps
So we all know that greasy fried foods are not in our best interest. I was never a huge french fry eater, but I know some people crave them more than anything. Baking can often be the perfect substitute for frying. You’ll simply slice these potatoes and toss them with a few seasonings. Then away into the oven they go! Easy-peasy.
So think baked sweet potato fries. Not drive-through fries and you’ll be in good shape. Literally and figuratively. We are a big fan of easy food swaps here at The Bikini Experiment.
- 2 Pounds Sweet Potatoes
- Coconut Oil Spray
- 1 Tablespoon Ground Cinnamon
- ½ Tablespoon Ground Ginger
- Pinch Pink Himalayan Salt
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Wash and scrub your potatoes. Dry and set aside.
- Slice into your fries.
- Place evenly on top of a cooking rack on top of a cookie sheet.
- Spray with coconut oil spray and add seasonings.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Ready to serve and enjoy!
