Happy Birthday to Me
Happy Birtday to Me…The Birthday Song
Hello there! I hope your Monday and the week is off to a great start. Did the weekend fly by for anyone else?
Mine was jam packed with activities from start to finish which resulted in many pictures being taken. I was all set to write a blog post this morning, but I got caught up in the vortex of trying to update my iPhone. I have accumulated so many pictures on my camera, and had so much music eating away at my storage space that I was at a bit of stand still. I literally spent a few hours, coffee cup in hand, trying to work through the mess to get to a place that resembled order. I can now finally install the update, and am a few steps closer to being organized. It was a production!
My birthday weekend was a very busy one for me! There was a conference, some time out and about in Austin, and furniture shopping. I will back up to Friday and share some of the highlights with you!
Picnik is an outdoor Paleo Café in Austin that is known for serving the trendy Butter Coffee. They are a simple roadside trailer that would be easy to miss as you are driving down the street.
Picnik serves a wonderful coffee and smoothie menu as you can see.
They also serve various Gluten-Free healthy meal choices such as salads, chicken and quiche. I really wanted some of their desserts for my the big candle blow out so Scott and I made a trip on Friday morning. They were kind enough to serve me a complimentary Mocha Chocolatte as a birthday treat. Thank you Picnik! 🙂
Scott and I picked a blondie and a fig muffin to share later. The weather was kind of fabulous, and we enjoyed hanging out for an hour or so to chat and enjoy the sunshine.
R3 Prevention Summit Reception
The R3 Prevention Summit started on Friday night as the Long Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Austin.
They served food and even had their own signature cocktail created for the event which I always think is a nice, individual touch.
Scott and I enjoyed the film “Resistance” which was a very interested documentary on the state of the food industry and our overuse of antibiotics. When I see movies such as this, I am sort of baffled how the earth is going to survive. Our food supply is hanging on by a thread!
It was a sobering kick off to the theme of the conference which was Refresh. Revive. Reinvent. When we reach a fork in the road we are bound to need to make adjustments, and I felt that a lot of women at the conference were searching for that very thing. Often a crisis we cannot manage or pain we are experiencing spurns us into action.
Scott and I discussed the film as we headed home for the night since I wanted to get ready for the conference on Saturday.
We made a quick dinner since it was on the late side, but we also had to eat something before dessert. I had to blow out the candles on my Paleo treats of courses.
R3 Prevention Summit
I was at the conference all day on Saturday and I had a great time. I enjoyed the speakers and interacting with a lot of the companies that were there. A full recap of the day will be coming your way tomorrow!
I chose the Salty Sow for my birthday dinner because we have been there a few times before and their food is amazing. The restaurant is also known for being farm to table and supporting all local farms through purchasing their produce and meat. The atmosphere is one of farmhouse chic.
My handsome date…
After church on Sunday, Scott and I made a quick trip to Ikea. My main birthday purchase was a couch. It was a group gift for my birthday, and even though we had our eyes on one…
We thought long and hard.
And settled on another. They delivered it that night!
Punch Bowl Social in Austin
I got an email from my friend, Gianna, last week that she would be in town this weekend. She lives in New Jersey and we went to college together, co-starred in a few theatre productions, and even worked together for a while.
We caught up at Punch Bowl Social for a quick lunch. I only had a salad because I was still a little full from dinner the night before. We had fun chatting for a few hours, and wondering around to check the place out.
You can see by this photo how the fun vibe was here. They had tons of games to play, and I am sure I will be back sometime soon!
The weekend concluded with a quick workout and an early bedtime. I was tired from all this birthday activity!
Question of the Day: Are your photos organized? Mine are a sea of confusion, but that it something I plan to rectify soon!
